Jonathan Simkhai started on the other side of the business, as a buyer and merchandiser in New York, which is where he formed his view of what a woman actually wants from a garment. He trained at Parsons and FIT, launched the label in 2010, was an early pick for the CFDA Incubator, and won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in November 2015 — the same year he showed his first runway collection. The work borrows from architects and sculptors: engineered construction first, hand detailing over the top.
