XIRENA
Xirena is pronounced suh-ren-uh — the brand prints the phonetics on its own about page, which tells you how often it gets said wrong. Designed in Los Angeles and named after the Spanish for mermaid, it runs on a laid-back California line: boyish ease cut with feminine detail, or as the house puts it, effortlessly chic classics with a twist. The clothes are deliberately uncomplicated and unpretentious, and Xirena is explicit that the character comes from the wearer — how you wear it, how you style it, how you accessorise it. Its references run from 1970s California to Formentera, and the Beau shirt and gauze styles are the recurring signatures.
